David, Louise and Chef Rob bid you a warm and old-fashioned welcome to the Five Bells, less than five minutes off the A14 near Bury St Edmunds, surrounded  by the beautiful Suffolk countryside. This country inn is full of character, yet offers something a little more unconventional, the thoughtful mix of traditional and modern décor compliments our unique dining experience.
The emphasis here is on good quality fresh produce  (nothing is prepackaged) and everything is cooked fresh to order, no fuss or frills.  You can see straight through into the kitchen so you know how it's cooked.  We take great pride in sourcing our produce from local farmers and east coast fishermen. Whenever possible our Beef, Pork, Fish & Shellfish, Vegetables and all other supplies are truly Suffolk or East Anglian in origin.

We proudly display all our fresh produce in our cold counter, our steaks are the whole thing so you select the exact cut and size you fancy.  You then choose all the sides you want to go with your meal, from our proper hand cut chips cooked in dripping through to how many tomatoes you want (if you want them that is)  Normally someone else decides if you have a salad on your plate and they charge you for it regardless of whether you want it or not, here you decide for yourself.  Nothing is too small or too big, it's about having your meal your way  Our chef will take your instructions directly, so the food is cooked just as you like it.

Due to the style we deliver our food here, and with everything cooked from fresh, we also cater for people with food intolerances ie Coelaic and vegetarians as we know everything that is in our options.

Our dining room seats up to 32 covers, and offers a very relaxed unhurried atmosphere, for business meetings, romantic meals for two, and also for family and friends dining out.  When you book your table it is yours all night if you wish.   The Five Bells is a small and friendly establishment, so it advisable to book for a Friday or Saturday evening or if there are eight or more in your party.

Children, well they love it.  Parents often ask if there is anything that is suitable, but the feedback has been great, and as soon as the child sees what we have, they usually make up their mind very quickly.

Our menu we hope, should suit everyone, adults or children, business or pleasure.

For Business meetings, we take bookings for lunch any day of the week - please telephone us to make your reservation.

The bar has a large inglenook fireplace with a real wood fire for chilly evenings, and we offer a selection of cask beers & the superb Hoegaarden also on draft as well as our sophisticated wine list.

Wi-Fi also provided for on-the-go business meetings, or dedicated social networkers.

The large garden and patio area offers a comfortable and relaxing place to watch the summer sun go down.

So for that special event or just a great tasting steak any time of the week, why not pop in and see what we do and find out what everyone is talking about.  We look forward to seeing you.

Welcome to the Five Bells
